I have a similar but much smaller Pioneer outfit with that cheezy ribbon connector that breaks with age. I never noticed the connector until after I got the unti home. It sounds ok so I took it down to the museum shop where I work on weekends.

Hi Dingus

Awe crap my keyboard is at it again, sticky keys :sigh:

Anyway long time...

Hows the AR-9's treating ya :thmbsp:

I sometimes look around craigslist, Portland and Seattle seem to have a wealth of nice gear. Just too pricey to ship all the way here :sigh:

Score anything cool lately?

I've been on a dry spell for a while

Always seems to change when I whine about it :D

Cheers

I have checked out the Los Angeles craiglist out of curiosity, but seldom found any items even worth pursuing, much like my occasional surveys of local thrift shops. I am not really in the market for anything, just seeing what might be offered locally. When it comes to Los Angeles, there are an awful lot of Ipods for sale, and tons of low-fi garbage. Seems to me a city like Seattle would be a paradise for those eager to buy used equipment. You would think L.A. would be better, but thus far, not the case.

only thing i got on craigs audio-wise is a Dual 505-2 with a Shure cart, and a Pioneer SA-7100. nice little amp. got it running the ADS L-810's here at work. i cant get over how nice the 7100 sounds. got it for $15. i had intended to flip it, but its a keeper. will end up in #2 daughters room with the ADS's and the Dual.

i have missed out on some sweet deals on craigs too. Allison II's for $50 - cuz i didnt want to mess with a refoam job (stupid!), ESS AMT 1's cuz the guy was basically using craigs to auction them off, asking $30, when i told him i would take them he asked how high i wanted to go, and a Yamaha CR-840 in absolute perfect condition, $40 but same story, went to the highest bidder.

as for the 9's, did a little audition for #2 daughters friends the other day, that was a real treat! i forget which thread i put it in, but its my last post prior to this one. and thanks for asking! i love getting a chance to talk up the 9's without bringing the point up myself!

Here's an L.A. listing for some Tannoy 12" Reds that he'd like to trade for Tube stuff. Could be interesting if you have what he's looking for.
Not affiliated, yada, yada.

Hey thats what friends are for ;)

Right Bolly :thmbsp:

I've come close a couple of times on craiglist, but usually someone beats me too it. That and the closest of the cities are hours away. Still fun to have a look around now and then.

Hey, dingus, I didn't realize we were so spoiled here in the Sea-Tac area, lol. :D I replied to an ad last night, just 7 minutes after it was listed, for a free P2 laptop, supposedly running fine. :naughty: It's only a little after 7AM now, so I might be waiting awhile yet for a reply.

well since you asked......
glad to hear that yours will be up and running again before too long. i cant get enough of mine, dont often get a chance to listen without distraction and household background noise, so i typically wait until i have the place to myself. auditioning them for the unexperienced is a blast, and that is too infrequent as well. they are the single best thing audio-wise that has ever happened to me!

Hey, dingus, I didn't realize we were so spoiled here in the Sea-Tac area

maybe we should explore the possibility of pooling resources, sort of like a craigs co-op?
