Was able to pick it up when my wife's Aunt and Uncle down sized. My wife's parents had had the same set up, and helped her Uncle build his. It came with a SS HH Scott Stereo Master. I have replaced that with a HH Scott 340B Tube amp. The Speakers are Altec 605. The bad is the tweeter on one of the 605 has blown. I have re-wired to a separate Tweeter horn.
The turntable in the cabinet is a borrowed SL-1200, but when I have to return it, I will look for Denon.
The Rek-O-Kut on the speaker has a Grado wood tonearm with a Grado mono cart.

Simply beautiful! And Altec 604s!!! I'm sure I'm telling you something you already know, but you can get the 604 horn diaphragms from Great Plains Audio. No need to wire in an outside horn.

I love the idea of a return to consoles. Beautiful woodworking, classic styling, and your's are done right with speakers separate from the console. Thanks so much for sharing that!

Whatcha got there is your classic Barzilay coffin top with matching speakers
it is in beautiful condition
I had that same setup with Fisher gear
There is normally two face panels that cover the middle but they also slide in the nice hardwood runner slot

Here's mine (long gone now)

From what I can see, it looks spectacular....

Wish you could shine the lights on the front a little more though !

I've got a stereo tube cabinet and love seeing more, and more.

I corrected a wishful mistake, the speakers are 605, and not 604. The voice coil on the tweeter can not be repaired
I also have the three front doors, they were off as I was as I was moving it around
The center section below holds my CD/DVD player
The two sides hold about 100 records each. These are for the most frequently listened to music.

Yes, indeed, your 605 tweeter CAN be repaired. The Great Plains Audio repair part number is 34852, costs around $100, and is a snap to replace. You'll be a happy camper once you have that diaphragm replaced and hear what a proper pair of 605s can do.

(The 605 is just a version of the 604. You can read the evolution of that speaker here:

Gorgeous console. When I was a kid in the 60's, my friend had a Magnavox console and I'll never forget the sound of a new 45 RPM when the needle dropped at half volume and The Beatles "There's A Place" came on. Incredible...

My understanding is the one man who contracted with Great Plains to fix 605's had to retire for health reasons. To repair/replace the 605 voice coil you needed factory training and factory jigs.
Please let me know it that had changed

You're thinking of the 601 (12") or 602 (15") with the 3000 series tweeter. The 605 was a slightly detuned 604.

I love these consoles but here in Belgium i can only find the crappy itt ones with laminated particle board ...

It's been so long since I was inside the cabinet. They are Altec 601C

the Borrowed Turntable, I hope to replace it with a Denon

The mess that is where the Reel to Reel would have gone. One did not come with the Console. You can see my CNC Audiokarma phone pre in the cigar box, and an RCA switch so I can sent both turntables through it

The mess below center is the Apple TV, Cable, RCA switch and CD player. What is not shown is a Fii03 DAC. The Apple TV is nice as I can listen to music from my computer and phone through the console.
