Thank you very much for that, it gives me some of the info I was looking for as I am sure that is somehow related to the front end of my board. From the above link:
"EQ: sound field mode NORMAL → BAS → POP → ROC → JAZZ→ the CLA → CUT → the NORMAL"
6 or so presses (hard to tell with those membrane switches) seems to bring mine around and the next one after straight has lots of bass so the NORMAL to BAS seems right. Not sure what the difference between CUT, presumably EQ off, and NORMAL is. There does seem to be a push that does nothing, could be that one. Must be a standard EQ used in tons of these devices.
Up and running at work with the Mission M70. Soundwise it is great, far better than the little Logitech X300 BT speaker I tried. The Voice is crazy loud and out of consideration for others should only be engaged when no one is around, but that is OK as that is when I switch to speakers anyway. Via BT the sound is very good and my laptop allows me to trim the volume nicely for streaming or Music Bee playing my music library on HD. USB sounds even better and generally works well though some louder cuts go from from "still a bit too loud" to "mute" with nothing in between. If you used really inefficient speakers it would probably make both issues very liveable and there seems to be plenty of power so volume would not be an issue.
