Kenwood Owners Show Us Your Kenwoods!

It sounds wonderful....

The way these are assembled pretty much requires that much (and more!) disassembly to get at stuff. I had this thing apart and back together more times than I care to admit - it was a royal pain the arse and fought back at virtually every turn.

I replaced all of the electrolytics - (filter caps alone were $106 - not many choices for drop-in replacemens). All transistors on both power amp boards and on the pre-amp, tone and protection boards. All diodes (except rectifiers) on "diode" boards and on power supply board. Regulators on p/s board, trimmers on power amps. A used vol/bal pot and a few new resistors as needed. Power switch rebuilt with all new guts, both sides bridged and new safety cap. Covers powder coated textured dark gray, but more black than gray. Maybe a few other misc things, but that's what comes to mind.

The Kenwood Kid rides again_KA-801/KT-815 for $250 Canadian funds. This one only 45k from here and on Kijiji for less than 5 min. NAILED IT. No factory boxes this time and only one blemish (on the speakers knob). I can't believe I could almost repeat the scroe I posted on page 63 #1252 but I did. Does anybody know if the blue lamps are factory? I'm thinking not.

Blue is not factory. They should match the KT-815 color

Thanks moejr I figured that was the case. It looks crappy to me I think it's LED - I can't even make out the needles in the meters from 4 ft. if I turn off the lights in the room at night. I'll be switching it back to the original ASAP.

My first vintage Kenwood very clean but missing 3 knobs , i think i have a line on some. Doing my first complete re=cap , just got list together only one was changed and not what Leesonic has on his list but will put his item on list...

Here's mine. A KA7100 stuck in a Pioneer box, lol, until I can find someone to throw some love at it. I don't trust anyone in town to touch it (springfield, MO), but wouldn't mind any suggestions....(I hear EchoWars is in K.C.)
