TPA 3116 vs the tripaths

Respons from pop980 for me took 3 hours, but that was on a mondaymorning, so not during weekend and my timezone is close to seller's.

I bought mine just after lunch on Friday (UK time) - within minutes I had a message apologising for not being able to post until Monday morning, which suggests a 'weekday only seller'; we all need our weekends!

He replied about an hour ago and is getting me a shipping quote for 2 boards. I'll post the amount when he gets back to me.

I'm reading the 50asx2 has an input impedance of 6 or 8k. Is that correct? If so, it may need a buffer for best performance.

Yes inputimpedance is fully comparable with audiobah tpa3116 ampboard, so like audiobah it can be used without buffer, but when used with passive volume control eg, one would best use a buffer

Received the TPA 3255 eval board earlier this week. It's a quality kit - much better than much of the cheap Chinese junk in comparison. Need to make/find a suitable supply for it, haven't listened yet. Don't need all the power, but what the heck was same price as the others.

I have a few vintage toroidal xformers around the place which could be used build a single ended supply so am considering that route.

Just based on what Natger says and the state of power supplies out there for sale, I haven't found one yet that would be seem adequate for this board to do it justice. 52V 12A single ended. Ideas?

On evm all analog low voltage circuits are supplied by a switching regulator, just the switching amp 3255 high voltage is fed "directly" by external PSU. You'll always have a switching powersupply, vintage linear external PSU or not.

So, before I buy one, can anyone help me understand the pros/cons of this board? It seems I'd need at least some volume control or a preamp, right? That cable set that Yatsushiro posted would be quite helpful. What else should I know?
