My Marantz 2230 Rebuild Thread

So I got all of the capacitors replaced on the tone board tonight, except for two. I don't really understand the orientation of a couple of the Wima caps. I'll look at it again in the morning and take some pictures. Getting closer to the end!!

I just completed my tone board and was confused about the WIMA caps as well. They are non polarized so they can be put in either way. I got this information through Randy who has been extremely helpful through my process. I also read up on them. There is a negative sign on them so I used that to follow the original path from the former ELNA electrolytic caps, just to be safe. I should be ready for a "current limiter" power up in a week. Good luck with yours.

I knew they were nonpolarized - it's how he doubled up on a couple of holes to make them fit that I need to study a bit more.

Here's a picture of how the 2230 C411 and C415 caps were installed at the factory. The 3.3uF/50v and 1uF/63v WIMA film caps fit in the same holes. A bend in the 3.3uF/50v cap makes it so they both fit and go all the way through to the other side.

C713 had a substantial amount of rock holding it to the PCB. Should I secure the replacement cap in similar fashion?

Care to help identify the base, collector and emitter?

Maybe they are polarized - there is a heavy leg and a light leg. I oriented both of the heavy legs inward. I also oriented the printing on the LED base the same as the original lamp. I'll wait to solder until I receive guidance.
