What are you Listening To Right Now? - and more

Listening to Husker Du "Warehouse Songs and Stories" and "Candy Apple Grey" on random via my laptop today. We lost Grant Hart last night :(

I am not yet familiar with Husker Du, though it is tragic they lost Grant Hart. Their new album (all three discs) are presently on NPR's First Listen:

I will definitely give a listen once I am done with this current one (work provides lots of interruptions resulting in slow album listening).

Husker Du is one of the greats IMO. I read the band's "biography", and it was quite interesting. Came away from it with a greater understanding and appreciation of not just the band but the industry and scene back in the day when it was still fringe music.

A couple things they discussed stuck with me and have colored my thoughts since:

3 guys in the band, all were required to write songs and any song you write you sang

They had a long history of playing their new material out at gigs before laying it down to tape. That way they could work out the wrinkles and settle on what worked and what they could achieve in a live setting

Not bad for a landmark double LP...

Thanks Grant, your music made a difference in my life and in that of many I know. The world is a richer place for it.

Guys, just wanted to give you a quick update.... thankfully Tallahassee did not experience the worst of Hurricane Irma so we have mainly been dealing with some downed trees and power outages here.

I just got my power restored late yesterday afternoon after line crews replaced a couple of broken utility poles near the entrance to our neighborhood. So, I was on generator power for about two and a half days.

Things are basically back to normal for our area at this point. South Florida and the Keys in particular are still a mess.... it will take a while for them to recover.
Glad to hear you made it relatively unscathed. I was without power for 3 days with no generator (and yes I have your recommended generator on my list).

Now I'm doing some cleanup as we speak...
