Well, what were they? Please do tell...

.

still unpacking should have pics up tomorrow possibly tonight, feel free to guess in the meantime, another hint they're a single number and if you look at my signature what would make me pee my pants over what i already have listed there.

Ok changed my pants. Nobody guessed? So after a few years of trying and 3 failed deals i finally got my 9's :banana::banana:
will power them up tomorrow after i check the tubes. seller triple boxed them so i had to work to get them out but they arrived safe and sound. have to sell off a bunch of stuff now that i got these.

Ohh Man!! Congratulations they look beautiful!

I've got a Marantz 2230 that had a bad power switch, dead lights, and front end I ended up getting worked on. It deserved a new life. The pots were still scratchy when I got it back and the vellum paper had gone yellow and needed to be replaced. Took it apart last night carefully removed the faceplate and replaced the paper with a light blue vellum and then opened up the bottom to get at the pots. Still need to go buy deoxit but went ahead and used some contact cleaner for now as a first pass as it dries up quickly and did the job for flushing them out. Ended up using a light round of brasso polish on the metal work and used eyeglasses cleaner and cloth to clean up the plastic pieces. Also one of the corners had been slightly bent so lightly tapped it back straight. Loaned it to my girlfriend for the time being as I'm there more than I'm home these days. It sounds great and no more scratchiness. I want to eventually get one of the WC-22 cases but it's low on the to do list as I still have a Thorens TD 150 turntable that was a freebie that needs resurrecting. Also rocking a Marantz 6100 turntable.

So, recently got this pair i have been working towards a couple of years - this is in Denmark mind you, before there was any import so these a very rare on this side of the pond.
Marantz Model 16 and 33 pre - they are mint and original (apart from a couple of changed caps - all changed with blue Philips to retain the original spec).
they are beautiful in both physical presence, and sonic capabilities.

Here are mine:

IMG_20171108_200712783.jpg

Surround:
Marantz SR5011 / Emotiva BasX A-300 (FL/FR power) , Marantz UD7007 (also as BD / DVD-A decoder)
Focal Cobalt 815 fronts / Focal Cobalt CC20 center / Focal Opal 607 surrounds
Pair of Infinity Infinitesimal 10" Servo Subs

Stereo:
Marantz PM6005, Marantz CD5004 (digital coax to PM6005's dac)
Philips FP 930 (!) turntable with AT95E cartridge and Proel RCAs - actually built by Dual;
Wharfedale Jade3s on Mission Stancette stands

Argon and QED Performance interconnects, QED Performance Original speaker cables with dealer-applied QED banana plugs.

Future plans are to move, stereo-wise, to a PM800x (say PM8005) and SA800x (say SA8005), as I totally adore the sound of Marantz.
For video, I wil prolly get the successor of the UD7007 (which btw, can be had for about 500 euros now, and sounds brilliant in stereo) as soon as it comes out.

Best wishes
A

I have a Marantz 2015 receiver in need of a clean, scratch free faceplate with all lettering, ect intact. There is a guy on eBay that makes the black faced, white lettered faceplates for assorted vintage gear, but needs 5+ serious buyers to produce the standard silver face, black lettering or black face, white lettering. I prefer the stock silver w/ black lettering. Any serious takers?

NR-1504 Receiver
It was my first quality piece of gear.

I have owned several Marantz amps over the years, but all BPC. This is my first Marantz of this vintage and I'm absolutely in love with it. The sound, the look, the feel, haha even the smell....

I moved my JBL 4430 to the basement man cave last month. The room has it's acoustic challenges which i've been experimenting with, but the 2385 has already dethroned my Grant Fidelity Rita-880.

Hopefully before Xmas, I'd like to bring out my Sansui G-8000 for a little friendly head to head competition.
