2017 Sansui Serial Number Database

Thanks guys. Quite a haul, I didn't see this before posting a poke in your other treads. Sorry for the unnecessary poke. Nice collection D&L. Does your RA-500 Reverb unit have a wood or a vinyl cover?

- Pete

Hi Pete,
Sadly it is vinyl . I have had a couple but never saw "real" wood . The one i have was a gift from a friend so even though i rarely use it , it will always live here. As i stated i have a few more pieces but the #ers are faded and i do not want to guess.
This is the first and only forum i have ever been on so pardon my ignorance but what is a "poke" ? I posted a question yesterday pertaining to my 771 and have not received an answer at all , is it visible to everybody or did i make a mistake?
I do love the idea of the Sansui data base and hopefully will be adding more soon , come to think of it i have an SR-535 tucked away in a closet here, i will dig it out tonight. It belongs to a friend that is in Italy for a few years and could not bring with her , im sure she would be on board.
Thanks Pete , Richard

Thanks orsen.

Richard, I'm surprised your RA-500 has a vinyl cover. It was built early in production, May of 1971 when virtually everything had wood veneer covers. Maybe the wood veneer was an option. The database helps define things like this.

As far as the poke, I don't think that term is commonly used on AudioKarma. I use it to refer to my request for serial numbers that I post in many threads, a kind of reminder.

You had me second guessing myself so i went and had a good look , definitely vinyl , there was a little pull on the bottom rear veneer . It may not be the original case for it , it did come from a Sansui collector so who knows, he may have replaced the original . He is an AK member as well. Thanks again for the 771 pix , shes playing right now.

With all of these, it's looking like it will be a record month for serial numbers.

Hello and welcome to AudioKarma Exclusively Sansui. Thank you for making your first post a serial number.
- Pete

Thanks; Got this AU-7900 yesterday, did cost me some bucks - but I'm thinking it's worht it. Looking nearly mint and sounds good.

I'm the second owner since'77. Planning to send it to US for recapping early next year - I belive I can't find any trustworthy Tech in Norway to do so the proper way it should be done....
