Recently acquired two Springfield 1911's in .45 ACP.

First up is a Champion Operator Lightweight, 4.25" match barrel, adjustable low profile sights added at SA. I added the G10 grips for looks and better control. It has a few SA Custom Shop tweaks as well.

Up next is the Springfield Armory Trophy Match, 5.00" barrel, stainless, fully adjustable rear sight, blended magwell. I added some G10 grips to this one as well although it is plenty grippy.

The wife and I gave one of these to our son for his 21st birthday in 2009.

Not quite as "fancy" as yours, but nice nonetheless. This one is what they call "loaded", which is a mil spec, but has different trigger, hammer, sights, etc. Sweet piece if I do say so myself.

I just sent it back to Springfield Armory Custom Shop for a few tweaks.

Eric, even though I'm a Glock "head," I've been silently drooling over Kimber's 1911 .45 ACPs. How does yours perform at the range? Every single issue of NRA's America's First Freedom I receive has one of their models featured on the back cover ad and I swear I'm this close to "pulling the trigger" - pun intended.

I’m very much a Glock fan boy but, my Colt is such a sweet shooter. I had a Rapter II .45, and before I even shot it a buddy talked me out of it with a nice trade. It looked mean with the grips “scales”!

Hey kdac
I've owned the g- model 45 for years. I'll put it this way back in the day I needed to down size (I don't remember why) I kept the kimber over a 70 series gold cup. Yeah I still get a little weepy about that gun sale. But I felt I could only keep one. It came down to I shot the kimber better. Don't get me started on the s&w 625 I sold about the same time. God, I'm an idiot. Eric

I`ve also owned a number of .45s over the years, one of my favorites is the para-Ordinance P-12....has the same footprint as my Glock 19, and there`s something very comforting about having a gun that that size which will send 13 rounds of .45 downrange without reloading.
And, as to the S&W 625, I am very attached to mine as well....

Hey Maxx
Your killin me. Mine was a model 1989. 5 inch gun.
I really don't shoot much anymore but that is a cool revolver. I've owned 27,28,25-2,25-5 57,58,657 . You get the idea. 625 model 1989 and the 27/28 were the king sh_t. But I digress. Eric

I sent the Springfield Champion Lightweight Operator to the Springfield custom shop for some work. I had them remove the low profile non-adjustable rear sight and had them replace it with their fully adjustable low profile Bomar style sight. They had to add a relief cut at the back of the slide for that to work so they re-coated it. Then they added a fiber optic front sight and did a little trigger work. When I got it back, I swapped out the stock grips for some G10's. It has turned out to be a very very nice shooter.

And just to mix things up a bit, here's another fun to shoot piece from the safe...
