I would only make one change. Swap out the original two prong cord for a grounded one. :)
Judging by the look and size of the cord I'd say it's already been done.
My early 60's Gibson Maestro used to give me the zappies till I installed a 3 pronger. Problem solved.

I've always read this too. The cord is the old style, but he marked how to plug it in without zapping. He has tubes, amps, chassis', and old radios everywhere. He said he doesn't change them if they have a rectifier.
/I think that's what he said

FWIW. My dining room`s vintage collection of Guitars and tube amps.
Which I have "inadvertently" collected when customers and friends offered to sell them to me at attractive prices since 1990
Every one of the tube amps in these pictures, but one, had been electronically restored by me for the owners when repairing for 5 local music stores here in NE. FL. out of my garage converted to a electronic repair room prior to my purchase of them.

Since I am physically unable to play guitar be cause of being partially paralyzed(left side hemi paresis), I look at owning them as I`m their steward for the rock & roll music that I love and history of it that they represent.

Plus their value certainly has not dropped either as I have the collection appraised every 10 years..

No wife here, so my guitar/bass playing friends can dine in a different way in that room when they wish..
Two of the guitars were owned by a friend who played in Lynyrd Skynyrd for a while, but I wouldn`t ask him for providence because he needed the money and I won`t exploit people`s misfortune.

There are a few amps and guitars elsewhere not in these pictures taken with my lap-top at the time, as I hadn`t learned how to take pictures yet with my new to me DSLR.

Regards, OKB120031.jpg 120311.jpg 120545.jpg
The reason of selling them to me were usually for financial reasons or change in tone/tastes..

Tremendous collection. And being partial to SG's, that blue (Pelham?) Custom is a beaut. As for amps -- wow - - the Blonde Bandmaster (?) and the Ampeg V4 are particularly nice!
Thank you kindly louisjames Sir.
The Ampeg SVT + Fender PS 400 have GE Groove Tube matched 6550`s installed, in fact all amps in those pictures have American manufacture Groove Tubes installed, as I was a dealer and the only dealer in this area until the chain music stores started setting up shop here in the late nineties until I ceased being a Groove Tube dealer when Fender bought them.

I didn`t even have a tube tester because I gave it away after I became a dealer in 1998 and didn`t feel I needed it any more with my stockplle of all the tubes used in most common tube amps, whether guitar/bass or home stereo tube equipment.

Damn!! Bill, that is one hell of a nice collection  I am mighty impressed, and I don't impress easy....

I really love the ''small-top'' Marshall's,I always thought they were the prettiest. Are those the last of the tube Acoustics I see sitting on top of the V4? And a Peterson on top of the ''short'' stack of Marshall's?
Be back in a minute,I gotta go get a facecloth and wipe off the drool:beerchug:

Wow! Love the vintage amps in this thread. Currently I just have a Fender Super Champ XD on which the dsp board crapped out so I by passed it and now it's just a tube champ. Volume and bright controls only. I also have the complete guts to a Vox Pathfinder 15 that I am converting to a head (it will drive 2 12" speaker cab to pretty loud levels) and a Roland Micro Cube as a practice amp. Sure miss my Blues Deluxe though.

Thanks for the compliment Sir.
arts you would be correct on all count`s of your observations.. I also like the small top/box head Marshall`s very much too, along with the 20 watt as well.. Very good natural grind without peeling your face and ears off doing it. !! HA !!

Funny thing about the Acoustic amps, as I purchased them really cheap back in the early nineties from a customer who informed me that his previous amp tech in Jacksonville FL. a few years before had told him that a transformer was bad in each one of them..
Guess again !!! Poor/wrong diagnosis !! The customers were not happy when they stopped by later on and played their "blown up amp" that "they" offered to sell me dirt cheap..

The Acoustics of that type and era were so closely cloned to the early Mesa Boogie`s that it was no surprise that Boogie successfully took them to the cleaners in court and that shortly afterwards Acoustic went belly up.

And the Peterson helped some of my "less seasoned" customers tune up properly before they tested their freshly repaired or reworked amp in that room.. I still have the small poster/s that exclaim" Tune it, or Die" in my shop for the customers to see before they start testing their amp out..
No customer was allowed to pickup their amp until it was played for a good 45 minutes to an hour or more, especially if trying out different small signal tubes(it`s now popularly called tube rolling) for voicing the amp better for their playing style tone..
I also have a Conn Strobe tuner out in the shop too, for the same reason of keeping everybody in key when testing out there.

Again arts, thank you for your interest in my little personal vintage guitar & tube amp museum..

Take care. Kind regards, OKB

I've got three right now. Would love to add a bumper era YGL-3A Mark III head to complete my Traynor needs...

My buddy Gary (unfortunately long dead now:() once had that model in a slanted combo with 2 twelves. Holy crap, did that give the Twin Reverb boys a run for their money!
Cleaner, punchier and fuller sounding. And the reverb was better as well. Probably had something to do with using an EL84 as the driver tube...:naughty:

Good luck finding one of those.I've only ever seen two in my lifetime, and I'm past the half century mark.

My first "real" amp was a head with an Ampeg V4 cab. Great combo and a twin killer for sure . I like the EL34's and the Trem and verb are much nicer.

Love love love the MicroCube. Best hundred clams I ever dropped in a music store.

Since this has somehow turned into a guitar and amp thread thought I would post my babies. As posted in another thread one of my favorites is the Ibanez AM-50. This came out in the 80's and years before Gibson went to a smaller-body "335." Incredible player and super comfortable. The "others" aren't too shabby either. ;)

My first "good" electric guitar was a 1959 LP Junior Double Cut just like yours! I miss that guitar so much but I had to sell it in order to get my 335 which I still have.
Loved that LP Jr tho'. Nice fat neck, real light and that killer P90 pickup just roared!
Your Goldtop is gorgeous as well! Nice stable there!:beerchug:
