Probably why they are mounted on heatsinks. The MJ's will run just as hot. I'd just freshen up the transistor thermal compound. And keep using the OEM.I noticed they got really hot
Erradicate all dried glue thats in the area. If there is any.

if they fit, those are awesome capsI found these Panasonic 15000uf 80v caps in my arsenal they are 40mm around by 80mm tall and the originals are 12000uf 58v 40mm around and 70mm tall.View attachment 1047344
No I just checked everything over and resoldered a few wires but the hum is still there I think I'll replace the wires from the meter light board to the speaker terminals with some TFE wire I use when I restuff a large capacitor it's 18gauge silver coated copper strand wire with Teflon insulation.Did you remedy the hummmmmm ?
I wonder if bypass caps would help?I replaced the ground wires after finding one frayed only a few strands left on it hoping that was the problem but no still have the hum which gets quite a bit louder when I move the selector switch from aux to phono.View attachment 1072171
Probably not..I wonder if bypass caps would help?
Does the hum change in any way by moving/ wiggling the wiring to the lamps ?Just found another problem. The meter lights weren't working so I ordered some new ones and now they work but they are producing a hum through the speakers there was no hum before I put the new light bulbs in.
I just tried wiggling the wires to the lamps and the lamps went out and the hum was not as loud but still there wiggled again lamps back on louder humDoes the hum change in any way by moving/ wiggling the wiring to the lamps ?
No way...If they were bad. Your volume would be drastically reduced.Maybe it's one of those red things?View attachment 1072696
Bad solder connections or loose wiring.I just tried wiggling the wires to the lamps and the lamps went out and the hum was not as loud but still there wiggled again lamps back on louder hum
I did put bigger main filter caps in the originals were 58v 12000uf and the new ones are 63v 15000uf
One red inductor for each channel. They are L901 and L902 at the very output of each amplifier.Maybe it's one of those red things?View attachment 1072696
I'll resolder things and put some new resistors in and maybe put few new chassis grounds inOne red inductor for each channel. They are L901 and L902 at the very output of each amplifier.
What resistors ?put some new resistors in
The ones on the lamp boardWhat resistors ?
