Here's my Charlie, a 9 month old chocolate Labrador. He's a big boy, near 40 kilos already and not fully grown. He loves water, as he demonstrates here during a walk after rain..

Aww, what a good boy! We have a chocolate lab we adopted last summer. He's so sweet; he loves every dog and every human he meets. He doesn't like water, and he doesn't like to retrieve - but he loves scratches, long walks, and Starbucks "puppicinos" (whipped cream).

Ah, awesome ! Labs are such a great breed. At the moment, we are going through hyperactive teens with Charlie. He has learned how to 'counter surf' so we have to be careful where we put things down. He destroys most dog toys in minutes so we are on the hunt for more robust playthings for him. Like yours, Charlie loves people and other dogs but he loves water too. I think your Lab probably had the typical ' throw him in and he will swim' owner when he was little. We were aware that dogs can easily be traumatised to water so we introduced him slowly from splashing in puddles to wading in the river and then to swimming. The look on his face when he fully submerged for the first time was priceless ! Being a Lab though, that big rudder tail and webbed feet kicked into action and off he went.
