Repair question for wood case

I have a 2252B with a WC-122 wood case that has a substantial chunk missing out of the veneer (see pics). I'm looking for tips on fixing, as well as suppliers of matching veneer I can use to replace. Any ideas or suggestions?

I had an 1180DC with a case like that one, same sort of damage too. I used Band-It veneer, it comes in rolls of various widths and woods. It has hot melt glue on one side, just iron it on, trim and sand to a good fit. I stained the new veneer, and refinished the whole case with satin poly, turned out pretty nice. Be careful if you sand the whole case, use 220 or 320 grit to just knock the gloss off the finish, the veneer is really thin.

It looks like your case has a much thicker strip of wood on the top there where it's broken off. Mine was just pretty much paper thin, the angle of your picture makes yours look like about 1/16"? If that's the case, maybe you can find some flat walnut molding strips and work it to the shape you need. Rockler seems to have some thin strips of various wood - http://www.rockler.com/wood/domestic-lumber. Model building sites have really thin strips also, but I wasn't able to find any that were wide enough.
