A couple of recent finds!

I've been contemplating buying the re-issue of this. Glad I didn't, this one is mint on the inside.

And I also ran across this one I didn't have...

Spirit of the Boogie is my second all-time favorite funk album after the group's Open Sesame. Zero disrepect to Slave, Zapp, and other acts from the planet's epicenter of funk - Dayton, Ohio or even the P-Funk camp out of New Jersey, Kool & the Gang are the undisputed gods of groove in the genre. Slave fronted by Steve Arrington displayed monstrous, earthquaking bass guitar antics, Parliament/Funkadelic welcomed listeners aboard the Mothership, but Kool & the Gang's overall musicianship, African-centered conciousness, and variety of topics (see "Fruit Man" on Light of the World) simply take the crown for me. The self-titled opener, "Ride the Rhythm, and the oft-sampled "Jungle Jazz" (sampled over 50 times), make Spirit of the Boogie a must have in one's funk collection. The fact that you own a copy on vinyl in mind condition makes it all the more sweeter. Excellent find.

Some cool 70's Italian mellow lounge-funk I picked up the other day for $2. Discogs lists this album as a 2 LP set in a tri-fold cover. What I have is a single sleeved release of the second album. It's pretty cool!

Sorry, just now reading your insightful reply.

You mentioned Slave, Zapp and Parilament...I would have to include Ohio Players in that list, too.
