Weekly Estate and Garage sale finds (pics)

There's a 3pm sale around here today. Turnouts are unpredictable. Sign up sheet at 1pm. I might make it to sign in by 130. I could be anywhere from number 20 to 75. Its also the first sale of the year for this company. It will be interesting.

Debating punishing myself on this one tomorrow. Few items I'm interested in but the spectacle will be something.

This must be an ex-antiques dealer. Either that or former estate sale fetishist dragging e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g home, good lord -

Wondeding what to do with this.. Bought this Heathkit ad-27 along with a pair of as-37 speakers at a sale today. Of course the turntable doesnt work. The cabinet is actually pretty nice. All wood veneer, almost like a little roll top desk. I am toying around with the idea of gutting it and turning it into turntable accessory storage. Extra headshells, carts, cleaning supplys, etc. Any thoughts?20180329_193006.jpg 20180329_193006.jpg 20180329_192932.jpg 20180329_192956.jpg

Orphan Boston A100 on 126th street near 5th ave in Manhattan. Woofers and tweeters in place. No grilled and some cab damage. Someone needs to claim these, even the foam is still in place.
EDIT: gone already.

This pile is a mix of 1 estate sale yesterday (tapes and 45s) and one craigslist visit to buy speakers ( it netted me a technics turntable as well as the LPs since he didn’t have speakers or a turntable anymore)

I went to a moving sale today on the way back from a thrift run to 2 GW + BTP. I saw some paintings that I liked and it was $5.00 total for all three.

One was a farm scene by a local Nashua, NH artist from the 50s. One was a big eyed kid painting but it was British Invasion related and an original done in pastels. The third was a Japanese painting, also original and signed by the artist.

$700 for a 2230 seems insane. Realistically, though, I'd imagine $200-300 fairly easily at an estate sale, assuming it doesn't have the wood case.
Just about 3 or 4 years ago I came across a Marantz 2245 w/cabinet, both mint, at an estate sale for $300. I thought it was high for an estate sale, but it was a decent price in the open market.
I snatched it up and gave it to my son.

If you go in on the last day of the sale, or if they are willing to negotiate prices, just forget about whatever ridiculous number they put on the item to begin with. Tell them what you are willing to pay. They will either agree to sell or they won't.

I picked up a very nice Marantz 2230 at an estate sale for $100 less than I had offered the owner the day before. I made it a point to let him know also!
