Look at what I learned to do this weekend! (my audio and video - rough video)

Poway Symphonette - *Ulli Reiner
April 14, 2018 saturday 3pm
Rancho Bernardo Library - R.B., Ca

Concerto for solo Violin and Bassoon - G.F. Handel
Ulli Reiner, violin
Takuya Ohkubo, bassoon

Concerto for Two Violins and strings - Vivaldi
Ulli Reiner (l) and, Gayle McCutchan (r), violins

Concerto in C Major for Solo Cello and strings - Vivaldi
Takashi Kiyoizumi, cello
Ulli Reiner concertmaster

Themes on Gloria - Vivaldi

All first row center (until they shoe-horned another row in front of first row;.. but, with a outwardly tapered funneled view for my mics; a very nice consideration!)
DPA 4060 12" baffled omni stereo, with mics 1/4" from disc face, each.
Line Audio CM3 pair, wide-DIN 25cm90º
Mics at tall seated level in center aisle, at first row.
Tas. DR70D 2496

This was a total impromptu decision made seconds before pushing the video record button on my small Nikon Coolpix Point and Hope camera. I've never run any form of video before; tolerance begged.

*Ulli is a current Grammy Awards finalist. She was unable to find a videographer for the concert. So, at the last second, I hit video record on the camera, and, leaned forward awkwardly for the next half hour.

Mahler:

Symphony No. 5 in C sharp minor

Netherlands Radio Philharmonic Orchestra
Edo de Waart

BMG CD (from a 14 CD including the complete symphonies composed by Gustav Mahler)

A refreshing performance, sober and honest, with a well-paced (i.e., not sluggish) Adagietto, à la Bruno Walter, Willem Melgenberg or the young Bernard Haitink.
