Your Latest Additions (LP)......

Went to get my RSD stuff at the store and then the Fedex man came with my latest Acoustic Sounds order:

I don't know where to start...

I just picked up Purple Rain myself! And what luck finding it, too. I went to the store specifically to purchase this LP, but there was not a copy to be had in the Prince bin. This store ALWAYS has a fresh new reissue in stock. I wandered around the store for about an hour, hoping to see something else that would catch my fancy. I was almost heading out the door and as an afterthought, decided to thumb through the electronica section. Lo and behold, there it was under Aphex Twin, of all places, and upside down. Makes me suspect another customer had hidden it.

That does sound like it was hidden and I suspect they would be sad if it went missing.

Makes me think of my record store, which I have found does not always have the best record of calling you when something your ordered comes in. I had preordered Torres' "Sprinter", did not get a call when it when it came in on the release date, so I came in and found exactly one copy of it (note: when you order or preorder, they do not make you pay up front). The point being, I was looking through one day and found exactly one copy of "Destrier" by Agent Fresco, an Icelandic group. I had been planning to get it when I went back to Iceland but since it was here, why not. However, I cannot help but think that someone else had ordered it through them, and then they had not called the person, and I took the copy that they wanted.

Just picked these up last week at some thrift stores.

Found two stacks of vinyl that I couldn't pass up. Haven't had luck like this in years.

First at the church garage sale, dirty, but VG+ after a cleaning:

Stiff Little Fingers - Inflammable Materials
24-7 Spyz - Harder Than You
Ornette Coleman - This is Our Music (Rhino 80's pressing)
Lard - Pure Chewing Satisfaction
Queen - The Game
Fates Warning - Awaken the Guardian
King Crimson - Three of a Perfect Pair
Sun Ra - Languidity

Next at a pawn shop, all VG+:

Ornette Coleman - Tomorrow is the Question
Ornette Coleman - Live at the Golden Circle (Vols. 1 & 2)
Miles Davis - Friday Night at the Blackhawk

This past weekend there was a record fair in my town. There were about ten vendors who brought some of their wares. I walked away with:

Chuck Berry - Johnny B Goode/My Ding-a-ling (reissue/live recording)
Jimi Hendrix - All Along the Watchtower/Burning the Midnight Lamp (reissue)
Jimi Hendrix - Purple Haze/Foxey Lady (reissue)
Aretha Franklin - Think/You Send Me (original)
Aretha Franlkin - Lean on Me/Spanish Harlem (original)
Lom Lehrer - Songs by Tom Lehrer (original)
Beach Boys - Surfin' Safari (original mono)
Jethro Tull - Aqualung (German reissue)
Nina Simone - Nina Simone at Town Hall (original)

I also picked up for my parents:
The Animals - House of the Rising Sun/Talkin' 'Bout You (original MGM release)
Louis Armstrong - When the Saints go Marching In/'Twas the Night Before Christmas

Just picked up
The Steve Miller Band
Book if Dreams
at an estate sale today for $1. We've been looking for Iron Maiden Number of the Beast for our daughters birthday, got a first press for $40 in mint condition from Bionic also today. Ouch. I had Live After Death in my hand at Goodwill, great condition, for $5 and i passed on it. Ouch again.
