Greetings. my current TV is a 29" Seiki 720p panel i use as my 2nd computer monitor. im looking for a new TV and i have a few things i need. ive never shopped for a new TV so im not really sure where to start

What i want is...
27"-32"
1080p.
3 HDMI ports.
3.5mm or COAX audio out
a GOOD component input stage. i have a few old game consoles and component is a MUST!

built in sound doesnt matter at all as i always run an external amp and small speakers.

Any Suggestions?

In my bedroom I have a 32" Insignia (from Best Buy). It comes close to what you're looking for. It has only two HDMI inputs, optical and 3.5mm audio out. However it is 1080P and has component video inputs. Best of all it was less than $150.

In an effort to keep costs down manufacturers are eliminating things like RCA output jacks and headphone jacks going with a single optical out. Make sure your tv has that and scour craigslist. With many people wanting new larger 4k TV's you can get a nice used 32" for a song.

There are a few threads here that will help you on your choices .If you are in the 27-32 inch screen , there will not be a noticeable difference in 720 verses 1080 , because of the screen size .

ive used both 720p and 1080p panels in that size, and for PC use, the difference is massive. for actual TV, its debatable

Its all about screen size, viewing distance and how good your eyes are. PCs are usually close in viewing, TVs are usually distance. It wouldn't surprise me that for PC use, 720p & 1080p appear quite different (close viewing).

Wasn't trying to suggest anything other than prices for a 32" TV have come way down.

Even a 1080p display makes a awful computer monitor, especially if your gaming. You can get some nice 27" monitors for $150 now.

Virtually all the $150 27" monitors have resolution no higher than 1920 x 1080P. If you want higher resolution such as 2560 x 1440 or 3840 x 2160P expect to pay as much as as $400.

FWIW: My gaming PC has an older 27" QNix monitor running a resolution of 2560 x 1440

Yes i know the input lag on TV's isnt that good. but i use the TV as a 2nd monitor, so its not an issue. and because i dont have the space for 3 screens in my room.

i would like to swap my main PC monitor (Acer 24" 1080p) for a 2560x1080 ultrawide. with the hopefully new 1080p TV 2nd screen.

Amazon has a variety of ultra wide monitors in several sizes at prices that range from $150 to $1000+. I suggest Best Buy or Walmart for the TV.

Update: TV search has slowed down, but for 1080p under 32" my only choices appear to be Insignia (naturally all the 20 somithing inch 1080p models are discontinued) and Sceptre. even the newish china/Walmart brand TCL doesnt offer any sub 32" 1080p displays :(
Now, if i can somehow manage to shove a 32" on my desk, then Vizio has a couple that look really nice.
