I am looking to find the best place to take my blown Technics SU-V8 for repair in or around
Orange County, California.

Thanks.

Nice amp. A main issue is correctly replacing C405-C408 main caps. There are no drop-in replacements and they are soldered to the board....

The repair shop that I use is 40 miles from Orange County he's been in business since the mid-70s. He has repaired 6 of my Altec 9440 amps, 2 Carver PM 1.5 amps, my Technics sa 1000 my Pioneer SX 1980 my rotel 1603 and many more. He charges $39 for diagnostic. He's a one man show so sometimes it takes awhile to get things repaired, his business is called stereo and video repair in Rancho Cucamonga he is working on my Sansui G 33000 right now. Good luck

UPDATE:

I ended up getting the amp repaired and a complete replacement of the caps at a reasonable price.
It was a little out my way having to go up to Alhambra , but it was worth it.
Turns out he is a member here , OMGCat! , This guy knows his stuff.

Thanks Jim, the amp sounds better than ever and hopefully it's good for another 20 years.
