You have to start somewhere ... i just received this beautiful Marantz 2245 refurbished by Shain. All i can do for now is admire it's looks while i am waiting for a really nice pair of EPI 100V's to arrive
... shorty after that i want to add a nice turntable and a cd player as well

Was thinking about getting one ... does the receiver run hotter in that wooden case? And why are they so damn expensive ???Now you need the WC22 case for it.......the 22 series looks naked without the case.

I had my 2220B in one and now my new 2230. They may run hotter but I doubt that unless one was running 4 ohm speakers at high volumes there would be any trouble. They have thousands and are still used today so I see no problem with using them. They have a pretty big removable grate over the vent holes on the cabinet........AND they were designed by Marantz for those very units. I was going to say that if you find Marantz speakers, dont overlook them. The Imperial 5 and 6s were and are sublime along with several of the HD series.
There is an AK member that makes reproductions with many great reviews (just search AK for WC22 and you will find it).
@Bodyblue Your system looks great. I'm not sure if you were talking about me, but I make replicas of Marantz cases.
