You are finding some good stuff down there in Oceanside! I just moved up to LA from San Diego a few months back but I found a whole bunch of Yamaha gear over the years. I even drove down that way to pick up an M-2 not long ago.

It's a very Yamaha rich environment in San Diego. I haven't found much up here but I'm kinda out of space so maybe that's a good thing.

I grew up listening to my dads A-1000 and pretty much am in the same boat as you. They are fun to collect and the guys here are great enablers, er, collectors and can help keep them alive as well.

Whoever got that MX-2000 for $500 has got to be smiling right now. What a steal.

How do you like the CD-S2100? I have been using a DVD-S2300 for a few years now but have been thinking that being able to have a CD/SACD player and DAC would be nice as I'm in the market for one of those at the moment.

All my problems began when I picked up an used silver A-S2100. It looked so nice and Yamaha's matching silver options are limited. I got the CD-S2100 but I rarely use it for the CD/SACD because I keep all my music on a DLNA server. Most of my use is DLNA -> NP-S303 -> CD-S2100 -> A-S2100 -> Linn Tukans. I like to use the Tukans because I have neighbors under me and I don't want bass thumping through my place. Here's some of my impressions. (Keep in mind I'm not an audiophile)

Balanced and unbalanced connections from the CD-S2100 -> A-S2100: Don't notice a difference
DLNA -> NP-S303 -> CD-S2100 -> A-S2100 versus WXC-50 -> A-S2100: Don't notice a difference
SACD DVD-C950 -> A-S2100 versus SACD CD-S2100 -> A-S2100: CD-S2100 way better
WXC-50 -> A-S2100 versus WXC-50 -> MX-830: Not sure why, but I felt like the MX-830 was better

Thanks for the review. I'll definitely keep an eye out for one, sounds like it would be a worthwhile upgrade.
The MX amps do have a nice, clean sound. I ended up selling all of my amps except the B-2x, M-2 and a few A-950/1000s due to lack of room and moving but I was sad to see them go.

I'm having problems with the CD-S2100 DAC. I thought it was the NP-s303 but looks like the CD-S2100 is having problems locking to the source(s). I'm in contact with Yamaha support.

If you're curious, the setups are video descriptions.
