hello,

I’m interested in getting a Yamaha turntable to go with my CR-1020. I was trying to do some research and wondered which is considered a better turntable? I tried to do some research on hifi engine, but surprisingly there was no documentation for any Yamaha turntables?

Search "Yamaha turntable" in Ebay search and see how few vintage 1970s units are available. Now enter "Pioneer turntable" and you will get 10 times that amount. Why is that?

Unsatisfied pioneer owners ? :D
Probably because pioneer flooded the market.

Yp-d71 is one of the better turntables we got in the US (the Japanese were lucky) and it matches the wood/silver aluminum of the 1020 (although it matches the 3020 even better). It's a very nice turntable and s arm make's it easy to change carts.
DL-160 is a better cartridge than the DL-110 (which is probably based on the DL-80) and the DL-110 was a nice cartridge at 80 dollars but not so much at 299.
Note, when Yamaha was demoing the NS-5000s, someone caught a glimpse and took pictures of what appears to be a modern GT-2000 (maybe GT-5000?) so if we get that then it will be the best turntable the US got from Yamaha (although, we probably won't get it).
This is like the one I have and matches the 3020 (1040 and 2040 too)
This one matches the 1020(2020)

Fellow YP-d71 owner here, I don't feel that I could really ever need a better table.

I replaced the vinyl faux veneer with black walnut veneer and then lacquered it, even found a NOS cover for it. Even my non-enthusiast SO comments on how pretty it is.
