Filming myself

G'day Friends,
Just wondering if there's a digital movie camera around that would be good to film myself playing Guitar and singing ( jeez amigos, run for your lives :) ) ,with the idea of putting the footage up on youtube/facebook/onto a disc .
I'd like the unit to be able to reproduce good quality audio.. would the camera need to have a seperate mic ?
Would y'all know of something that would do the job for around $500/$800 ?
Regards from OZ ... Charlie ..

I think the audio is the most critical part. You could get an average camera and add a BeachTech XLR adapter.

Another option, my Canon A10 would be perfect for your task. Great quality camera and built-in 2 channel XLR connection with mic, line, phantom power. You can find a used one at the top end of you budget.

Just some ideas.

Thanks for the replies folks..
I'm thinking that the Zoom unit might be a good one to try... it's a pretty good price AUS$280.00 and it seems as though it would be a good introduction to home filming ...

You may check with the media department at a local university or college, they may offer a loan program that is open to the public. Our local uni offers this, and the gear is pretty good.
