Kensonic/Accuphase owners show your stuff.

Thanks frahengeo.

Yes, the letters and numbers are engraved. The wooden side panels balance the brushed champagne front and add lots of richness / depth to the look. Also, the inside of C-260 is amazing design and build quality. It’s a dual mono design with all the amp boards plug and play. One would have to look inside the accuphase units to notice and appreciate the build quality.

Question for the Accuphase lover and owners out there: which of the following power amps would you prefer/buy if you were me? Thanks!

Accuphase P-260

Accuphase P-266

Accuphase P-300X
http://audio-database.com/Accuphase-kensonic/amp/P-300X-e.html

Accuphase units from 80's are generally considered better than 70's so I would prefer comparatively newer units. P-266 is the most recent out of three, also has pure class A output. P-300 series is legendary, so it may be easier to find service information and techs to work on P-300x. I am sure P-300x can drive most of the speakers easily. The price and condition of the unit is also important. I don't have knowledge to speak about electronic circuit differences. Along these lines, I would consider P-300x or P-266.

Hi guys. Im so happy to be a first time Accuphase owner. This is an Accuphase C202 Pre amp. im so happy with its sound. It has a separate pre amp for its CD input with separate volume control too. Im using the CD input Balanced with my Cambridge DAC and its full, rich and silky smooth sound. Love it. One thing i noticed is it has Pin 3 Hot on the XLR connection and newer stuff now has Pin 2 Hot. for now I just flip the absolute phase switch from my DAC. Both P-260 and P-266 have Class A functionality, and both have MOSFET outputs (4 TO3 per channel from Hitachi in case of P-260 and 6 per channel for P-266). P-300X has bipolars for outputs and no Class A functionality.

I noticed that their Class A amps have MOSFET outputs and non-Class A have bipolar outputs (I believe even the current generation). I have also read that their Class A amps sound very smooth and silky; not to undermine their non-class A amps. My P-500 is very smooth. If you are planning to buy one of the three you mentioned, let us know which one you decide to buy and your impression.

Just got this bad boy back from @Tom B

Hooked up to a pair of KEF LS50's and it's sublime! Not entirely sure if I'm hearing some high freq roll off though. Can anyone chime in and let me know if what I'm hearing is abnormal?

My first Accuphase, P-260, is on the way! I had to choose between P-266 (which had only 100V/117V power supply although on the back it was clearly written 100V/117V/220V/240V), P-260, P-300X. There were also some models like P-20, P-300/P-300S available.

Ok, the P-260 is has arrived and is fabulous! What a sound! I have never seen such a big power supply in an audio amplifier. The filtering capacitors are immense, this is the first time when a capacitor is almost as big as the power transformer (90 mm diameter and 100 mm length).
And, this over-designed power supply can be felt in the sound signature, the word to describe is "effortless". This is how the bass notes are comming out from this amplifier. Well done, Accuphase!

P.S. Do you have an ideea whether the Class A switching from the front panel knob should be done with the amplifier on or off? Logically, it should operate the class switching with no problem while the amp is operational, but I need some confirmation.

You can obtain the manual from hifiengine. I browsed through it quickly, and it makes no mention of whether it is okay or not.

It does, however, mention that Class A should be matched with efficient speakers, and Class AB with less efficient. I never considered speaker efficiency with my Accuphase, but I don't have the option to switch between the two.

Just got my E303X back from being restored. Been a long journey but it looks and sounds great. The matching T105 tuner seen in the photo's is with PunkerX awaiting his magic. Next is to find a matching CD Player.....DP60 or similar!

My new acquisition, 2017 E-600:

That would be one mighty fine integrated alrighty. Velvet glove with kick you in the nuts grunt.

It's class A but has a hidden trick, when pushed it goes from 30W/8 Ohm Class A up to 75W/8Ohm in Class AB.
As usual with Accuphase, the speces are severely underrated.

My amp is class A and has digital readouts of the power output. When it is reading 5 Watts (peak), it is loud. I would think that for most residential rooms, 30W class A is more than sufficient. My room is 12 feet x 24 feet, by the way.
