What are you Listening To Right Now? - and more

And it depends on what one means by "support." No support by the original legacy companies in most cases, but still some specialist refurb and repair guys that do bang-up work on R2R units... It will just cost you.

Check out my manski in Nashville, Chris Mara at Welcome to 1979 recording studio. His side business is Mara Machines, specializing in MCI units:

True, but if you had a Ferrari in the garage that was 50 years old. Would you let your local GM mechanic work on it? Probably would pay the cost necessary to get someone who knows what they are doing with it inside and out. And yes, that does cost. I know, I have 4 decks currently in the service center with a tech who knows what he is doing. I am sure it will be a pretty penny come the day to pick them up. However, I want to drive that Ferrari. LOL

It is 10:00PM on the East coast, but tis a Friday Indeed. Therefore, plenty of time for more trips downstairs to the kitchen. To support those trips, it is going to be some metal rockin' going on for the remainder of this evening. These are the 2 selections now in line for some spinnin' ..............I really like these 2 selections. Did I mention I have new neighbors that moved in on the other side of my Town Home? Time to break them in and see what they can handle from this side of the fence...............Cassette.JPG

There is support in regards to ATR is now manufacturing reel tape. So one doesn't have to go through NOS via e-bay. Check out national audio company website. The ATR tape is actually pretty darn good tape stock. Brand new also! I purchase from them to show my support for this medium. If people buy the tapes, they'll keep making them. I plan on using a reel tomorrow. Why? Beau has recommended some Bach Organ Music for my recording project. I have pondered which cassette tape to use. Type I actually has as good of bass as type II (the advantage being the high frequencies) . However, I have decided to break out some serious big guns for Beau's recommended recording as those low frequencies of the organ demands the technology of the reel machine. This is the tape I will be using tomorrow for Beau's recording of Bach Organ Works.................................. I love having some audio fun to look forward to on the weekend after a slammin' week @ work!

That is cool but I was speaking of pre recorded media. If I record my LP then I just have a copy of my LP that is more troublesome to use.
If one is recording live music, then RTR is what ya' want!

Do it, and I hope you don;t get the dirty looks the woman in the (usually vacant) vacation home next door
gave us the other day after a 2AM Krokus, Saxon, Dokken, Priest, UFO, Scorpions, Sabbath, Ozzy session with the boys.

I agree, the pre-recorded are pricey via e-bay. I am using youtube via a subscription to record. I used to transfer my LP's to tape for posterity and keeping them preserved. However, don't take offense room, but I now play all my vinyl and don't worry about keeping them preserved so some lucky Bastard can find them at a thrift sale or estate sale after I am dead. I would rather laugh at everyone having to deal with my worn copies cause I enjoyed them LOL . But the act of recording is so much fun for me and finding the source of youtube allows me to cop recordings without having to buy them. The cassettes make that very economical. The reels are still pricey for a blank so that is used for "special" recordings such as the one planned tomorrow via Beau's recommendation. Bach organ music definitely deserves, in my book, a chance to break out a reel tape and see how well I can capture that low, low bass of the organ. The reel is definitely not my everyday medium. Don't want to wear out the head's anyway, as they are not easily replaced. Geez, you are all right , it is not a well supported medium anymore. I am one of Dio's "Last in Line" I will take the tape world to the bitter end and be one of the last to spin it all with my last breath LOL.

Same here bro. I don;t abuse them, wash them and treat them well but never understood the sterile glove treatment like they were a priceless Faberge egg

Pure New Wave Of British Heavy Metal bliss right here. Pretty sure they're the only Scottish band in my collection...other than bagpipers.

I remember the reviews in old Stereo Review Magazines.... They really liked the Revox Decks. I have heard they are really solid machines. Never knew anyone that had one though. I really like this one. Minty Shape indeed!
I knew a couple of guys with Revox decks when i was in my teens. They were like this ultimate stereo thing when you would go over to listen to tunes. I was content with my humble HK1000 cassette deck
