L1 > L5

Speaker shuffle day.

I've loved a pair of L1's for well over 20 years, recently I had the opportunity to buy a pair of L5's thinking they'd be better. Nope. (IMHO)

The bigger speaker gets much louder and has much better bottom end but the L1's image far better and are just more *musical* at any sub-disco level.

Am I nuts?

Equipment: Yamaha M-60 amp, C-2a pre and an old Onkyo CD player.

There can be plenty of reasons to like one pair over another, and if they fit your needs, then no need to justify it. My first thoughts would be about positioning. How do you have the L1's setup? On stands? How is the tweeter height compared to the L5's when they are setup?

L1s are on stands and the tweeter ends up about 3" higher than the L5s. Both the same distance (18") from the wall.

L5s are upstairs now, in the little room.
