Free KR 7600 With No Sound Out Is This Worth Getting??

I have a chance to get a KR 7600 for free it powers on but there is no sound out is it for worth get and then drop like $125 to $175 to get it fixed??

Free is always good. Can be used for parts or might get lucky and all it needs are preamp jumpers.

Cosmetic condition is a key factor here depending on how particular you are.

If it's close to you and in good physical condition....it certainly can't hurt to pick it up. May be an easy (cheap) fix. Current "sold" listings on eBay range from $200-$250 for ones in working condition plus shipping....good luck!

If you REALLY want a Kenwood whether it 's the KR-5030, KR- 7400 or 7600 stop spending money on units your not interested in (Sansui G5700), looking for late 90's/early 2000 units, or looking to pick up non working units that you hope can be repaired in the $125 to $175 range.

My opinion:
- get the free KR-7600, part out everything on eBay, take the proceeds
- get the Sansui G-5700 fixed up, recapped, by using the proceeds above
- screw the KR-5030.

What you will end up with is a nicely restored Sansui that will keep appreciating in value. The Kenwood prices have not kept up, and people do not go ga ga over them, unless it's a KR-9400 or KR-9600. And even then, there's a limit to the upside.

Not might it's a great! deal for you. I'm glad you were able to come to that realization. Now you'll have a working receiver worth a decent amount more after your $200 investment in it, plus you'll get to listen to music again, which I assume is what it's all about for you, and focus on other things such as not continuously starting threads asking "Is this a good deal" or posting wanted to buy threads on CL and having to deal with people trying to sell you items that may or may not work.

I'm glad you figured it out and that this whole year long ordeal is behind you now. Congrats

Get the 7600. If it’s stuck in protect, it’s either the power supply or one of the amps. Unplug both amps and see if it comes out of protect. If not, the power supply has the issue. Otherwise plug in one amp and see if it comes out of protection. You can pin down what has the issue fairly easily and can fix it yourself or find someone local to do it.

Kenwoods are sleepers. Get that sucker and spend your money getting it fixed up in addition to the G-5700. When a chance shows it's face you gotta jump on it. If you get the Kenny, you can hold it until funds are better and then get it fixed when it won't hurt so much. I had a bunch of monster receivers and did one a year to get rehabbed and recapped. I now have 6 monsters all working, but I just had to wait a while.

I picked up the KR 7600 today all the lights on the front work the knob for the on off switch is missing and there is no sound out what so every it is very dusty inside looks like it has never been cleaned. I plan to get it fixed in the near future.

Working or not you can't beat free.Even if it is a nightlite.

I don't see any jumpers in the "adaptor" jacks.
Try using interconnect cables if you don't have proper jumpers.

And give it a good bath, in and out.
You might end up with a nice receiver for free.

First thing I noticed in your pics is that the jumpers are missing on the pre out/amp in loops.. Try bridging those with a couple short rca cables and see if that "fixes" it ...
