Jazz Fusion Playlist

More fusion out of Buffalo, NY. What is it about this small town? How can such a somewhat "small-ish" city be home to both a funk overlord such as Rick James and fusion acts such as Spyro Gyra, Boney M, etc.? Must be the water...

You got it brother...

I'm pretty sure it's actually the biggest city in New York State, _except_ for New York City.

But yes, we have an out-sized talent pool compared to the size of the area. Rick James, Spyro Gyra, Brian McKnight, Ani DiFranco, Goo Goo Dolls, Frankie Dunlop, Joe Public, Bobby Militello, Don Menza, Sam Noto, Mel Lewis, Gamalon, Lucky Peterson, and on and on and on. A few other noteworthy Blues artists as well, or so I hear...

I was a Gamalon devotee for years. Even took a few lessons from Ted Reinhardt. They were out of sight live. The records are quite awesome as well.

Thanks for posting.

Loose Change - Live At the Grainstore
Long before drummer Virgil Donati found his place in the music world, he was laboring away in Australia with a quartet of fantastic fusion musicians, all of which were the cream of the crop for jazz/rock players during that time, this is an incredible cd, all done live, with a great studio quality recording. A must have for Jazz/rock fans, great stuff!
