Are those EICO or custom cabs? I'm assuming the latter; I've never seen these components in wood before and I can't imagine it would be a good idea to run tube components with no air circulation. And what's the white surround on the faceplate?

EICO did in fact sell wooden cabinets, but I'd suspect the ones in the current thread are "aftermarket".

It's not a great idea unless the enclosure and the component therein are designed for proper convective cooling. The cabinets in question dont' look like a good idea to me... but they're easily removed (or, for display, just leave 'em on).
