It has several problems, bad transformer, bent sub chassis, messed up amp boards.

I have everything OEM needed to make this a whole amplifier again, am i wasting my time?

@brunomarcs They are considered reliable good sounding amps if in reasonable condition. Only thing that keeps people from buying them is that it doesn't have speaker protection circuit.

Yeah I’m on it... damn Yammies... this franken-yamaha will have to remain mine, as I can not in good conscience sell it.
But then again who am I fooling... I haven’t sold a single Yamaha in the past 8 years...

Thanks for the info, I’ll probably wind up with one. Just won two cx 1000’s and a CD has remote for one pre and CD

I will be interested in the speaker module in due time once I buy the amp. I’m sure the original poster will need it now, Thanks

Good evening fellow AK’rs I bought my first Yamie P 2200 new in 1978 when I was sixteen and I loved it and I still have and use it. I DJ’d on the road with my first one for 26 years and I never missed a beat lol. They have a crisp clean warm sound and made my variety of speakers sound great. I pushed Cerwin Vega PD 18’s, klipsch heresy II and celestial Denton’s at various times over the years. I love them so much so, I have recently purchased two more P 2200’s and a P 2100. Rick a fellow AK’r is going to give them some love’n and I will be putting them back is service in my vintage home system. YES repair that yamie

Well here we go. Noticed R153 (10 ohm) had a dark heat mark around the middle, it measured 91 ohms out of circuit, replaced it.
Just for interests sake i measured the emitter resistors in circuit, over 2k, hmmm. Removed one leg of each, open, all 3.

Guess ill have to check the 2SC1586’s for shorts and see where that leads. I’ll report what i find here.

It has several problems, bad transformer...

"Bad" transformer? Completely dead, or a secondary winding fault? I'll have to admit that I've never been in a Yammie transformer, but in several Pioneers (Bando). Even the "bad" ones are repairable. Despite the lack of an indication on the schematic, there may be a thermal fuse embedded in the winding.

So far, 3 open emitter resistor, 3 2SC1586 shorted and 1 2SA909 shorted...

Also these boards have the lousy early 2SC1213A transistors in TR105, 106, 108, 110 and 113. Also TR114 is the 2SA673A of the same vintage.

R139 is open. R140 is good.
The rest of my .47Ω, 4.7Ω and 10Ω resistors are good.

So what now...
TR111-114, D110-113... anything else?

Thanks for any help provided gentlemen.

I will fully test the transformer when I get a minute, I’m willing to bet it’s more likely the power switch but I haven’t looked at any of that stuff yet.

TR111 2SD381 collector-emitter shorted
TR112 is good
TR113 is shorted (2SC1213A)
TR114 is good
TR109 is good
D110 is shorted (can’t find a part number for this diode, looks like a 1N914, does anyone have a part number?)

Any suggestions for replacements?

The rest of the diodes on the board all tested good. Is there anything else that I’m overlooking?

Also I was considering replacing the 100uf 10v electrolytic with a MKP, just having a little trouble finding a place to mount it... LOL!

Once again thank for any assistance provided.
