Ok what do you guys see here.

Fisher amplifier model ??
EICO preamp model ??
Speaker ??
Is that a VM record changer?
Tape recorders look European. Edit: Norelco/Philips

I've read that Louis Armstrong was something of an audiophile. Cool photo, thanks for sharing.

You are welcome! The NYT story says the Louis Armstrong archive has now put a great deal of material online.

Look at how dirty the grill is, on the right hand tape recorder. Looks like that one spent some serious time around smoke, especially considering how new it was when the photo was taken. The collage of images on the wall behind is pretty interesting too.

What a great man he was, I'd like to visit the museum.

He also has SS Marantz gear in the photos.

Thanks for the photo !

Either that is an upside down HF-85 preamp or a Harmon Kardon amp/preamp. HK did make an integrated with a stereo preamp and a single channel amp. Seeing the Fisher 80AZ or 100AZ mono amp near one speaker, could be the giveaway. Note that Louis is allegedly recording himself with one of the tape decks...

It appears that the publication The Audiophile Voice did a story on his gear:

I believe that the tuner in the photo below is a Marantz 10; later Marantz tuners had the horizontal tuning wheel.

And those tape recorders look like Tandberg 64x, from about 1967. I like how he's got them built into the wall, it looks awesome. Those tape recorders are tube based.
