Anecdote; hope it's true. Apparently even as president, he set aside time each day to send personal hand-written notes to people he wanted to thank or keep in touch with. Hand-written note sure beats a tweet!

Soon after his presidency was over, George H.W. Bush attended a small dinner where Helen Thomas was in attendance. Helen was a longtime member of the DC press corps and known for her tough questions, especially to George 41. At the dinner, 41 paused in the middle of speaking, looked at Helen, and said "Helen, I've waited a long time to say this. Shut up, Helen." Great sense of humor.

It was a very moving service. There was a lot of love in this cathedral.
that was an extremely well done service. Being that we had the day off and I was *supposed* to be rewiring some stuff on the house, glanced at the TV and 2.5 hours later.....
Perfect eulogies. Alan Simpsons was classic.
Honor guard was excellent. Its been so long since I voted for him, twice, that its out of mind, but of all the things they said today....not too many disagreeing. Class act and glad he and Bar are back together.
