Found a BGW 250B and have to say, impressive build and test of time!

Big fan of Pro audio gear for home use. Amazing bang for the buck. Plus when one uses quality stuff IMO it bests much of the consumer offerings in its dollar range. But to each their own. Happy to see affordable options for those in the hobby. Still on the hunt for a crown SL2 preamp if anyone has one and wants a good trade for something ;)

Seems bone stock and measured .5mv .7mv on the other channel for DC offset. Pretty good for such a relic LOL.

I take it these are quasi comp designs. Well if I recall my citation 16a is also, and that bugger sounds wonderful to my ears also. This is a very simply design and I imagine that contributes to its uncolored stout sound.

Gonna put this through the paces and listen in the near future. Also have a A&B 1100A I wish to have a listen to also. So cool to find this pro gems locally for cheap.

Enjoy some nudies folks. You know we love em ;)

BGW amps are good designed and sound great with lots of reserve power (if needed).
I own 3x750G,2xGTB and 5x performance 3 series.
Current collection of ABI amps is 10 pieces (all ATD series ex-Imax) with built in active crossovers.
My wife will kill me if I bring more stuff home...

My 620B's sound every bit as good as my Nak PA7, maybe even better (faster slew rate?). Brian Gary Wachner was a genius who unfortunately died way too young.

Yep, just solid design, conservatively used parts, heavy duty construction. Really provided plenty of current capability too.

Are you comparing the BGW 250B to Altec professional tube amps or transistorized amps? The Altec Transistorized amps don't have much of a reputation IMO. Where was the deal and how did you come to get them?

I'm sorry I don't have the altec in front of me and can't recall the exact model number but it is transistor unit and I will get back to you on that anyway I was looking at a on line offer web site as I do every day and saw the altec for what I thought was a fair price and noticed other equipment inthe photo when I went to get the amp was offered everything she had the altec 3 bgw 250b 1 fender 400 and a music fedelity pre amp also a pr of fisher speakers the total of everything listed for 300 . I'm not sure of that's a good price but I think I can get my money back . Oh I'm in so cal lots of gear for sale
