My Sony Elcaset EL-7. I purchased it new in 1980 and just recently un-retired it after it was in storage for about 27 years. Recordings sound fantastic although blank Elcasets are a bit hard to find these days...
No, I cleaned and demagnetized the heads for good measure (probably didn't need it) and it was good to go. It was stored at room temperature for all those years so I'm guessing that helped. A local hi-fi dealer was closing them out for $100 (about 10% of the original price) back in 1980 ($80 for the EL-5). I'm sorry I didn't buy a few more...Did you have to replace anything or was it good to go after 27 years
