Kx 200

I only gave it a wipe down with a 50/50 H20,ammonia mixture. Wow!

It still has a layer of schmutz on it, but I'm leaving it. I learned the hard way on another chassis.
It sounds better than it looks.:music:

Westy56,
that's gotta be the cleanest KX-200 chassis I've ever seen.
What are the knobs from?
Try rolling tubes in those 12AX7 positions without tube shields. You'll hear a difference.

My Fisher 500-C

First in a temporary setup with a Sony 5520 and an iPod:

(Dave Brubeck The Fantasy Years, I think, is playing on the platter above)

And now in a more permanent home with a Marantz 6300 and Sony SCHP-1001:

(Count Basie is playing here, with the Mills Brothers, I think)

Those pictures are really nice, DC. I like that wooden stand.

I posted this once to the 'listening room' thread but it's the best I can do for this thread, that is current.

My Fisher 400c preamp, FM-200b, and X202b with an Empire turntable. They aren't wired in this picture but will be soon, with Altec Boleros as speakers. The 400c will go in another system, with it's 300b amplifier.

Wow, DC and JohnVF, nice gear! I really need to get my 500C up and running, if they look that purdy all lit up! My 800C doesn't have the cab.

And JohnVF, I really dig the furnishings in your home! The Fisher gear looks great with it, nice timeless look!

Thanks, guys. The wood rack (with character :)) came from Macy's.

JohnVF - nice setup. I have watched your pics in the "Listening Space" thread and I imagine it sounds as good as it looks!

John, can I hire you as an interior decorator?
As long as you pay me in old tube gear, sure. And it has to be mid century modern or I'm lost. I was engaged to an interior designer and, well, her hammering home some sort of aesthetic sense in me was about all I ended up with out of that deal.

I never did nail down the name of the consolette this comes from. Mono FM is surprisingly nice sounding.

The sound stage is huge. This is really unexpected, and I like it.:D

I'll never look down on consoles again...
