Favorite Christmas Ornament?

We put up our Christmas tree this weekend and as we got out all of our ornaments I thought about how much I enjoy seeing some of them on the tree. So I thought I would share a couple of my favorites. Color on the second one is not that great.

What is your favorite ornament on your tree?

I'm not unboxing any to take a picture. I have something on the order of 2,500 unique ones, no two alike, and mostly very nice ones, but I decided this year to say like I have every year since about 1982 except for last, "Bah, Humbug!" :D (They'll come out of their zillion boxes again if great nieces and nephews ever come for the holidays.)

My mom and I amassed that huge collection, specifically shopping to have no two alike, for a 22 foot noble fir we did in '82. I had to borrow a long-bed truck from my Dad to get the thing home. Then take a foot off for it to stand up in the stairwell.

We did a little live noble fir the next year, too small for anything but a pittance of those, then planted it. It was beautifully green and seemingly too coincidentally died the same month my parents did a year and a half ago. It's still waiting for me to take it down. I haven't the heart.

(Maybe I should decorate its Charlie Brown skeleton with all those baubles. :D)

I haven't decorated a Christmas tree in quite a long time, but I was fond of how my grandmother used Christmas cards on our trees. I really liked the look.

Also, not an ornament, but the Color Wheel is my all time favorite Christimas tree accessory.

Rome

I felt underprivileged as a kid because we had green trees and strings of lights while others in the early 60s had those aluminum jobs with the color wheels. Having seen "War of the Worlds" at the drive-in, those reminded me of the Martian's eyes and lenses on their machines and I wanted one. I remember being quite certain they were the same thing. :D

Yea, we were too poor :D as well, Jag!

I would stare for seemingly hours at window displays that had one in rotation.

Now, I don't mind not having one, but it would be cool to get one for a Christmas tree.

Yea, those lenses on the martians & machines were quite similar. They just didn't rotate! :D

I once found a handblown ornament that depicted Chinese takeout. Since the early 2000's our Christmas Eve tradition is having Chinese takeout then beverages and holiday cookies, it seemed like the winner. The ornament broke in 2010 and I have yet to find a replacement.

The little angel on top of the tree. There's a story about it.

When four of Santa's elves got sick, the trainee elves did not
produce toys as fast as the regular ones, and Santa began to feel the
Pre-Christmas pressure.

Then Mrs. Claus told Santa that her mother was coming to visit, which
stressed Santa even more.

When he went to harness the reindeer, he found that three of them
were about to give birth and two others had jumped the fence and were
out ... Heaven knows where.

Then when he began to load the sleigh, one of the floorboards
cracked, the toy bag fell to the ground and all the toys were
scattered. Frustrated, Santa went into the house for a cup of apple
cider and a shot of rum. When he went to the cupboard, he discovered
the elves had drunk all the cider and hidden the liquor. In his
frustration, he accidentally dropped the cider jug and it broke into
hundreds of little glass pieces all over the kitchen floor. He went
to get the broom and found the mice had eaten all the straw off the
end of the broom.

Just then the doorbell rang, and an irritated Santa marched to the
door, yanked it open, and there stood a little angel with a great big
Christmas tree.

The angel said very cheerfully, 'Merry Christmas, Santa. Isn't this a
lovely day? I have a beautiful tree for you. Where would you like me
to stick it?'

And so began the tradition of the little angel on top of the
Christmas tree.

Not a lot of people know this.

Merry Christmas

This one I bought at my last Grateful Dead show back in the 90's ... good times; I leave it up all year to keep the magic in my system and to remind me to have fun. Anyone ever seen a pre that looked like this?

Read this earlier at work and laughed my ass off at the time, which was much needed at the time.

It would have to be the one the wife and I co-created. It's the 1st one on the tree, and the last one to come off.

I have one of those Enterprise telephones. It sits around like a piece of sculpture, because I have no landline to plug it into. I'm tempted to get one, just to have it functional.

We put our tree up today, fave Christmas ornament must be this very old snowman, very sentimental as it was once my grandma's (there's a matching red colour hat one too) :)

The Beatle is the last remaining one of a set of 4 that my mom bought in the '60s. At the time I thought they were sort of corny/cheesy/old fogeyish. They were made in Italy.

For the last several years I've been hanging it next to the large tan 'vegetable' to the right, which is more recent. So far, I'm the only one that gets the connection or understands why.
