Tips on using AK's Software

Kamakiri

The New Dynamic
Although some of you have been on board for quite a while, there are a lot of new faces as well. I thought I'd take a sec to point out a few things with AK's software, things you can do that you might not have known :)

Frequently Asked Questions can be found here, the button is only seen when you log off:

Here's the calendar of events.....you're welcome to add to it if you have a special occasion coming up!

By clicking the words "Current Users", you can see who's online and what they are doing :)

Looks like a good candidate for a 'sticky' if you ask me, vs the 'bump' every so often.

Cheers,
Russ

I made this thread a Sticky, as Russ suggested. :)

Another good read about how to use this board's software is this

http://audiokarma.org/forums/misc.php?s=&action=bbcode

It explains how to use different tools for formatting posts and making them all pretty ;)

Another feature worth mentioning is the Report Post button below every post. If you feel a post is inflammatory or insulting, this will send an email to the moderators and administrators, and will permit us to take action, if required.

on the left hand side, at the top, you'll find User CP. Click that and then click List Subscriptions. :)

I realize that this sticky is as old as the hills, but Clarance and Bolly had posted to it so I had to check it out.

I clicked on the "knowledge base" link that Kam has posted back in '03 and just about fell outta my chair.

Hey, that better not be referring to me.. :lmao:

Is there a "MyForums" where it will bundle all of the threads one has participated in?
For your post history, go to the right and click on "Quick Links > My Profile". On that page, you'll find a "all posts by this user" link. I think that's what you're looking for.

And as regards the "Report Post" button, it has moved to the upper right corner of each post, and is shaped like a triangle with a "!" in it.

is there a way to go to say page 32 or a forum without starting at page one or the last page and moving there two pages at a time? im reading the dc offset and you and its kinda hard to move to the middle pages.

The simplest solution I've found (and if there's a better way, PLEASE chime in!) is to go into your url bar in your browser, and look for the page number in the link - I've removed the http: from this one and highlighted the page number in red:

//audiokarma.org/forums/search.php?searchid=983000&pp=25&page=3

Just change the page number to the one you want, and hit your enter key.

lefthand at the top is User CP, click that, click Edit Options, about 1/2 ways down the page you'll see, Thread Display Options, in the Number of Posts to Display Per Page window, choose 40. This cuts down significantly on how many pages you'll have to view.

What I can't do, and can't seem to find out how, is to multi-quote posts?
That is, quoting several segments of diff posts in my reply?

Also, when I want to use italics, it will work, but not just for the word or phrase... it italiscises the whole sentence?!

Help!

right next to the Quote button is a small one with a + on it. Clicking that will select the post, but leave you in the thread. Do that for several, then hit Post Reply. All the posts you clicked the + button in will be quoted. (the little + buttons should turn red to show which posts you have selected.)

If you only want part of a post, you have to edit it yourself after it is quoted into your post. As a courtesy, show deletions with a "...", so other members realize they are not reading a full quote.

In quoted text, everything is in italics. If you want to make something prominent, you will need to use the BOLD function.

If you need more help, feel free to PM me.
