I'm not sure what types are available for you. I'd use a plain BC556 (80V Ucbo) or BC557 (50V Ucbo). These are easily available for me (in fact, I have several on the shelf, this being good small signal PNP transistors). A 2N3906 has not enough maximum voltage (40V). Look for something similar with a little more maximum voltage. Check pinout twice before soldering it in, these japanese 2Sxxx-types have usually E-C-B and not the more common E-B-C.
