  • It really depends on the sound source(tone of the gtr) and the destination where to this sound is captured (tape form etc) so buying just one kind of mic will give you one flavor.

    For a stereo pair I'd go with Oktava's matched MC012 pair that would require a 48 volt phantom feed from the external mixer or phantom device. These mics are great all around performers on ac guitars, piano, choir.

    For ultimate vintage feel ribbon mics would be great choice. They are somewhat picky with bad quality mic pres so be beware. Ribbons roll off highs and can be dull sounding with certain combination. DON'T use phantom with vintage ribbons as the current may damage the sensitive parts of the mic.

    On a budget I'd get just one large diaphragm condenser eg Studio Projects b1 that is selling 100 bucks at most stores. It is no brainer with acoustic guitar and as being a condenser requires phantom feed in order to work.
