I have the SA-9500 also and noticed the same thing as you, not as much bass as my SX-950. So I added dual powered 12" subs to mine via L/R pre-outs. That really helped alot.

Yep, been there, done that. I agree that it does sound pretty good.

As an SA-9500 owner for several years, I can't help but tell you......DO IT!!! Love mine so much. So much flexibility for sources. I'm running a matching TX-9500 tuner, matching SG-9500 EQ, PL-530 TT, CV E-712 speakers and dual left/right powered subs from Pre-Outs. DO IT!!!!

Put a cassette in the tape deck, hit Record/Pause same time. Switch the amp to PHONO, put a record on the TT play it, the hit the TAPE 2 button on the amp. You should be able to control the main output volume with both the Amp volume and the Tape input knob.
