You can get the Rotel tuner, maybe a bit better than the Sansui, no am section, 4 filters in narrow, very good quality, the only negative thing is no HD filter

Question about Nad preamps I have a Nad 2700 amp, according to the manual the Frequency response is 1Hz to 80kHz, the matching preamp Nad 1300 has a Frequency response: 20Hz to 20kHz. there is a mismatch besewn the preamp and amp, should I get a better preamp for the 2700 ?

I dont disagree, but even American tuners, like Phillip ( former Magnavox ) SAE, Heathkit, and Harman Kardon have way better specs, even the Scott LT-112B from 1969 can reach .07% distortion at 1 kHz after alignment. Maybe someday I will get one

Why the specs are so low for the MR74 ? Distortion: 0.5% Separation: 35dB@1kHz Any Japanese' tuner from 1972 has better specs

Build quality goes to the Hafler, and it is going to last longer if you take care of the amp. Probably you have to decided which one sounds better
