    Realistic RD-8100 Turntable !?!?

Sorry to dig up this ancient thread but I've got an issue with my RD-8100. It was working fine but after a move the auto return is messed up. Table won't start in the right position and returns prematurely. I realize the cog under the platter is misaligned but I've got no clue where the gears...

Seinfeld, MASH or All in the Family

Huh? What SNL have you been watching? Tina Fey certainly was a performer on SNL. Mike

whats the best sounding "small" speaker you've ever heard

I have to throw in a vote for the ProAc Supertablettes. They haven't made them in a long time and u rarely see them for sale. There's a good reason for that too. :) Mike

    Roadside finds

I sold them in 3 days cuz I really have no room for them. They aren't as nice for me as the Vandersteens but the new owner was certainly thrilled to buy them. I thought my days of being a picker were over but I'm sure I'll always stop if I see speakers on the curb. :) Mike

    Altec A7 re-introduced (2003)

Having owned A7's ( not for $8K LOL) they certainly are a unique experience. I couldn't live with them forever but they provided a very high fun to cost ratio. YMMV Mike

    Roadside finds

    1) They sound very nice 2) Cabs are not veneered MDF but real solid wood. 3) Drivers are high quality Seas components 4) Designed and manufactured by Ian Paisley. He later went on to design speakers for API ( makers of famous Canadian brands Energy and Mirage) I'm probably...

    New Guy Needs New Speakers

I concur the speakers are the weakest link. The choice of TT and CD player are rather nice. There are just so many options in your price range it's difficult to make educated suggestions without more info. What sort of traits do you covet in a speaker? Is pounding bass a plus or a negative? Do...

    Roadside finds

Well lamp cord is aptly suited for lamps. LOL Not to rehash the old speaker cable argument. Mike

    Roadside finds

Well I'm not in the habit of hunting for roadside treasure but I'm not about to drive by some and not at least stop to look. Driving in the falls Saturday with the GF on the way to the casino when I spot a set of speakers at the end of someones driveway. Quick inspection to assess the condition...

" Any Interest in Starting a Phase Linear Forum? "

I'm not so sure there is enough Phase Linear gear to warrant it's own forum. Nothing at all wrong with PL but never had a huge product line. You would have been thrilled to hangout here 8yrs ago when Rich P was a huge contributor and owned every PL piece ever made AFAIK. Mike

    New Vandersteen 2Ci Speakers

Congrats.. Vandersteens are always a wonderful choice. I've got a set of 3C's doing the main duty in the big rig in the livingroom. I've gone through a lot more expensive choices to come to the realization that these are just about the ideal choice. Mike

A voice from the past!!! Hey Guys!

Ah yes, the move from AudioUtopia or AU as we called it. Original first month membership was probably less than 50 iirc. Even though Tim started the forum I believe Ward was member #1 but I might be wrong. I was #3 or #5 it's been too long to recall. Mike

Thor why is the pink miata parked in a handicap spot? And you don't have to be gay to drive a Miata but it doesn't hurt either. LOL Welcome back you fat ****. Luv ya in a non homosexual way of course. Mike

    Bokeh! show it off

Bokeh is a lil like porn. You know it when u see it. This flower shot is simply soft and OOF. Bokeh is non existent since there is no central focus point. Longer fast zooms tend to provide more opportunities for bokeh but much of what you get is both lens dependant ( the number of aperture...
