What is the purpose of this LED light?

    Interesting, thanks guys.

What is the purpose of this LED light?

Noticed there are a couple random LED lights on circuit boards in my receiver. Curious what the purpose is. Only thing that comes to mind is something like what PS Audio’s noise device does - converting noise into light to clean the power? Or an indicator that the circuit is properly...

@goodolpg I didn't have either of those on hand - maybe i will pick some up.

Which part of volume control to Deoxit?

@goodolpg Ok, I got ya. Thank you very much for your assistance - I have put faderlube in there liberally and worked the knob a lot, but will maybe give it another shot or two. Thanks!

Which part of volume control to Deoxit?

Thanks so much for your reply. What do you mean by the brown material? I think you're saying get the Deoxit into the space in front of the pot #1? I've put a good amount into #1 and the rectangular box already. Thanks

Which part of volume control to Deoxit?

Scratchy volume control & speakers cutting out. Luxman R-117. There are three parts to this volume control. Which part is the pot that should be sprayed (1, 2, or 3)? Even with the speakers cutting out every once in a while (mainly on low volume), I prefer the sound to my other setups. Thanks

Anyone know what this KLH component is?

Is it part of one of the built-in systems? Or an early receiver? https://imgur.com/a/VFmOLtY

    Unconnected speaker tweeter making sound!

Finally got around to doing this. Very odd - seemed like it was saying 'Vote McGovern.' Also tried this - did not charge my phone, but my toilet did start running. @Mister Pig Thanks for the info. Figure I might as well post a photo at this point, so here it is: Fun fact: The guy I bought...

    Unconnected speaker tweeter making sound!

@xero-D-hero Yes, I believe it is a Piezo. Thank you for all the responses. I don’t think it’s the seashell effect, as some are suggesting, as it’s a real electrical crackle-y sound. Pretty interesting. Reminds me of when we’d pick up radio stations on our guitar amps, or cell phone signals...

    Unconnected speaker tweeter making sound!

Here’s a funny one. I have a pair of Speakerlab 7’s disconnected from any source, stacked up against a wall. Happened to have my ear close to one of the tweeters, and it’s producing extremely faint static-y sound. Don’t know how to explain this one. Is it picking up static electricity in the air...

Opened up some Wharfdale towers the other day and was greeted by Mr. Bill

@johnda Yes, bought them used haha. Actually I remember the guy jokingly said his toddler had stuck some things in there, but the extent of it surprised me!
