Hello Group,
I am new to this group and fairly new to 2-channel stereo. I recently purchased B/W 685 speakers, a Yamaha r-s700, 100 w per channel receiver and a Yamaha CDC 600 CD player. I use 14 gauge speaker wire for run lengths of 28 and 36 feet. I have upgraded my interconnects to Morrow MA4. To me and others who have listened to various pieces of music it sounds awesome. Clean, pure, honest sound.
My question to the group is why does Yamaha not get the press in magazines like TAS or others compared to Marantz, NAD, Harmon Kardon, Rotel, Outlaw etc. Is it because this is not a "boutique" audio component, more of a mass produced system. Economies of scale allow Yamaha to source quality parts at lower prices than smaller audio companies, is my guess. It seems to me that Yamaha is way underrated.
What have others experienced with both Yamaha's receivers and CD players? How do you compare Yamaha to other brands? Thank you-
