Another oddity, since no schematic seems to exist for these, I collected the Trio recommended W-38 one (which uses a tube rectifier) and a KW-33 one (which has a solid state rectifier). Both use 6BM8 outputs & are pretty similar. Both show a 0.02 mfd cap across the power line coming in. Mine...

I see a number on Mouser too, radials that are 1" diameter. Some are labeled "Low Impedance", would that hurt. That's a lot of rippler current, most are not rated that high. I will have to dig into the spec sheets.

CE makes a 4 X40 and a 4 X 50 at 350 volts in the correct form factor, I'll probably go that route even though it is expensive. The two 100 mfd's are more problematic, 1" diameter. I found some JJ's that are 7/8" diameter so far they are the closest but I will look more this weekend. It...

Thanks. Did you keep the same values (100 mfd, 40 mfd) or go larger? Also, all the .05 mfd film caps, did you use .047's or go up to .056 or .068 (or larger)?

So this is a Japanese Trio-built unit, and it has the usual plethora of grey Elna and JCP(?) caps. It also has 2 100 mfd Nichicon cans that I think might be replacements. The multipart can cap (40 mfd X4) also looks like a replacement, with a clamp mounting. Obviously the Elna's & JCP's need...
