Marantz 22XX lineup

I was looking for this earlier and couldn't find it. I've recently bought a Marantz 2225 and a Marantz 2285B, and I'd love to see a complete list of the 22XX lineup. I have no idea how many of them there are, but maybe a knowledgeable person here could list them all or post a link to a list of them all. Also, any details about differences between them all would be helpful and interesting. I saw that there's a 2220 and a 2220B, and I wondered if there are distinct differences between units with a B on the end and units without it, such as in the internals or the years they were produced. I imagine there's more than one 22XX collector somewhere on Audiokarma who knows every little nuance of all of these receivers. Also, feel free to share which one is your favorite and why.

I know where a 2265B is that has been serviced. Guy wants $525.00 for it, and I've been debating about getting it. It's a bit of a drive, but I think I've developed an addiction to these 22XX units.

$525 is in the ballpark for a working unit according to recent ebay sales.
If it has the Wc-22 wood case that would be a very good price.

I'm no marantz expert but it appears there are 30 different 22xx units.
That would be some collection.

I would start with a 2270.
That seems to be the classic model.

It does not have the wooden case. It is apparently a clean, one-owner unit. He cleaned it, replaced all the lights with new led lights, checked all the voltages to make sure everything was in spec, setting the dc offset and the bias, and now he's selling it. I wish it had a full recap and the wood case but it doesn't.

At one time I was "guilty" of having an even dozen 22xx Marantz receivers, all in working order! I realized I was getting a little nutty over the things so I started selling them off, mostly to friends or relatives. I am now down to three: 2240b, 2250, and a 2250b, all in Marantz wood cases. All have been reconditioned by Play It Again Sam in Lakewood, Ohio. I play all of them regularly and all are connected to JBL 4312 speakers. No subs. My all-time favorite is the 2250b.

I have mine connected to Imperial 6s and the synergy is superb. I dont use the tuner section because I have a HD tuner that I run through it along with Spotify and a Marantz SACD player. I use a Realistic switch box for all of it.

today I picked up my early Christmas present, a WC 22. There is an indie record shop in downtown Sacramento called Delta Breeze Records. They had this case in stock and held it for me for two days. I was going to have own of the posters on here build me one (for a good price) but this one was just too good a deal to pass up. The Marantz tax on these things is crazy, but worth it. One thing that i always liked about Realistic receivers is that they usually came with wood cases. I love my Pioneer and Kenwood and Sony items but by the late 70s they had got away from the wood cases.......

I had to get some longer screws to get the feet attached but finally got them and got it hooked up and in place...........I dont think I have ever like a piece of stereo equipment so much. The synergy, the sound, the quality and now the looks. And in the future if I happen to see another 22XX series receiver, the case will be right there.

I like the mix of old and new, nice combination.. The wooden case for the 2220B is something else. Now I'm thinking of borrowing from the family piggy bank and picking up one for my '25.. :)

Thanks. I love vintage for two channel music and I love Home Theatre so I need both old and new. I have the Amazon Fire for Spotify, and HD tuner for radio (I love HD radio), an SACD/DVD player for music and movies (HDMI out to the AVR and RCA out to the 2220). I have the HT speakers low in the stand but I ran the MRAC room correction on the AVR and it sounds a hell of a lot better than it has a right to. The back speakers are Minimus 7Ws. I despise black plastic or black wood, that is why I love the case so much.(The Marantz AVR and SACD have aluminum faces so I dont mind too much) I found this one for $150, which is a freaking steal these days for a decent one. Two coats of Feed N Wax and it looks great.

I like how the lighter walnut Imperal 6s look next to the darker case.
