Bass distortion in one channel of my new Pioneer SX780

I just picked up a Pioneer SX 780 from it's original owner. The left channel has some distortion in the lower frequencies and the unit goes into protect mode if pushed. Is this indicative of immanent failure in the power supply? Or is it more likely a signal path issue?

I haven't cleaned it yet either.

Otherwise it sounds pretty nice.

If the distortion is in only the left channel, more likely a failure of one of the STK0050 hybrids, and a possible open emitter resistor (.22ohm white cement resistor).
Fix it up as they are great little units
