Pioneer sx 1010 - Tuner AM and FM is MUTE

Hello to all of audiokarma members
I've come to ask your help to fix a problem with my pioneer sx 1010.
This is a spectacular receiver. Great warm sound, and very powerfull
The aux and phono / mic functions are perfectly, and sounds great.
So, it had one problem on tuner. AM and FM section is completely mute.
There is no sound signal when I select AM or FM.
I'm not very experienced, but my guess would be some diode with a problem. But I could not trace what it might be.
But it could be another problem.
Could you help me find the problem?
Thank you all

Check for the 13 volts at the power supply board pin 8.
Check for the 13 volts at the muting assembly pin 3. AWM-039.
Check for the 13 volts at the Tuner assembly pin 26 and the Front end assembly pin "B".

Thanks for reply Zebulon

PIN 8 Power supply: 0 Volts DC
PIN 3 Muting Assembly: 0 VDC
PIN 26 Tuner Assembly: 0 VDC
Regards

The D10 wz140 seems to be open..
Maybe q7 to. I will check.
I will buy a substitute for D10.

Can I use a BD243C to replace 2SD313?
Regard

I did suggest checking any other pins on the Power supply but I should have.
Did you look for other voltages on the power supply?

Measured now:
PIN 8: 0 VDC
PIN 9: -13 VDC
PIN10: -57.2 VDC
PIN11: -23 VDC
PIN13: 35.2 VDC
PIN14: 57.3VDC
PIN15: 26.2 VDC

I'd still consider strongly rebuilding the power supply. Not familiar with the BD's.

Havols; Can you take a picture of the Power supply and post it for Zeb and me. Toasty black or still factory tan it still should be rebuilt. It's run at the ragged edge and this is the reason for the toasty black end around the heatsink. NEW uprated parts will make it heavier duty and able to take the strain of running at todays voltages with a fair amount of gusto.

Larry

OK Larry and Zeb
I will attached a picture when i get back home.
I tested the 2SD313 transistor with multimeter, and it appears good.
I did a recap on power supply (use Epcos and Nichicon Caps)
Regards

Good.
I had read other posts and threads of yours and learned you are a tube guy at heart.
You'll be money ahead rebuilding the Power Supply. If it least for the reliability.

Yeah Zeb
I really really appreciate the tubes from the 50s and 60s, mainly made in USA. Here in Brazil they are rare, and expensive. So it takes patience and attention to buy some with a just price.
But I like this earlier transistors too. Have fisher, sansui, marantz and pioneer.
Here, is hard to find a good technician to do a dedicated job on these amps and receivers. So lets go... do it myself.
I will check all the power supply of this 1010, and rebuild it.
Thank you again
Regards from Brazil

They are known to get toasty. Residing on the bottom of the set, upside down no less. Very few boards are missing the cutoff jumpers. To add insult, the boards tend to perforate at the far heatsink end and break the traces.
Your board doesn't look to bad. Rebuildable.

How can i rebuild it?
Checking and replace all altered components by new ones equivalents?
Just it?
Regards

Of course.
We have the list.
Looks like yours has newer caps diodes and transistors but one of the transistors I see is original.
Where do you purchase the components for repairing these vintage sets?

This is the SX-1010 ultimate list:
There will be obsolete components, although most are current, alternates are available.
A big thanks to MTF and Mattsd!

Thanks Zeb
I buy this components here in Manaus (amazon region).
Between the 70's and 90's, Manaus was the main gateway of imported electronics (made in japan and others) in Brazil. So, here still has a good movement in this area. Others I buy from São Paulo - SP. I also buy in Rio Grande do Sul state, which is where I was born, and I go there 2 times a year.
but here, good components are expensive
Well. I have a lot of work to do. I will poste the results in the next days
Thank you very much.
Best regards

WHOOOAAAA THERE!

Muting Assembly (AWM-039-A)

AWM-039-A: C1: .47uF 50v CEA: 505-MKS2C034701CJSSD .47uF 50v
AWM-039-A: C2: 47uF 50v CEA: 505-MKS2C034701CJSSD 47uF 50v

That is a .47uF cap, not a 47uF cap. :D The correct replacement for C2 is a 647-UPW1H470MED. I would also recommend using the Kemet stacked films for the caps under 1uF:

80-F612JF224J063A for the .22uF
80-F612JG334J063C for the .33uF
80-F612JG474J063C for the .47uF
80-F612JM684J063A for the .68uF

Everything else looks pretty good though!
