What do Yehudi Menuhin & the Shah of Iran have in common?

Well, reportedly this stereo system, as well as the guy from whose house we bought this system today.

It's a Lenco L70 and a Fisher 800 receiver in an unusual custom tambour cabinet, and some JBL drivers in massive corner cabinets, with external crossovers and Armaco tweeters.

There is no real proof of the other owners but we do have this note.

Great Caesar's Ghost! Regardless of whether or not the note is accurate, that's a cool system!

Well, my friend in the city must be the Shah of Iran, because he has that tambour record box with the Lenco, and he doesn't play the violin.

BTW, the JBLs are C39 Harlans.

Interesting. Did it have a receiver on the top? I'll get extra pics later. The ones here don't really show it well.

Ok, so who's William McConnell? ;)

The guy who owned it. Maybe Yehudi's agent, or the Shah's press secretary? :)

Unfortunately loaded with a single D123.

There is actual the name of a maker (local I think) on the back of at least one cabinet. These might have been knock-offs.

How interesting and random!

Is there a Kevin Bacon connection here someplace?

Call the Ayatollah and have him check the palace. The Shah left in a hurry, maybe the system is still there.

Here are some more pics of this system. Unusual for sure. The one with the maker plaque and crossover is one speaker upside down on top of the other as we have not found room for them yet.
